Becoming Toddlers

Since beginning this blog, I've been running after two toddlers with no time left over as we made the crazy change from babies to toddlers! We're fairly certain the girls went to bed one night around 12months and overnight decided they were ready to be toddlers.

Here's an update on our crazy lives since the girls turned ONE in February - to about 15months!

For their first birthday we celebrated with family, Mormor & Papa Green, Grandma & Grandpa Warren, & Uncle Mike out for lunch and then home for cake & gifts. We had a blast - the girls since christmas have really figured out how to unwrap gifts. They enjoyed trying to collect ALL the pieces of paper off the ground.
Linnea & Signe walked for about 2 weeks before deciding they were pros and would run instead. They've learned how to climb stairs, the sofas and how to get on/off their rocking horse themselves. Big into books, building with their blocks, balls, their amazing tent from Mormor, chasing dogs in the park, picking flowers & grass, barking at dogs in the park,... Their words include 'ball' 'juice' 'cup' 'up' 'down' 'please (only occasionally)' 'dog' 'mama' 'dada' 'more' ... though most of these are not recognizable by anyone other than mommy & daddy!

We have successfully made it to ONE NAP! Definitely a process but we're there. And its GREAT!

Signe achieved 3 molars in 2 days about a month ago, followed by the last molar and another bottom tooth in the last week or so. Linnea has taken a bit longer to get her molars, she has 3 out of 4 just in the last week or two. Though she also has another front lower tooth. Teething is NOT all that fun, for the girls or for us as parents. We will be oh so thankful once Linnea cuts her last molar!

As a family, we were visited by Mormor & Papa Green for spring break in April and had Grandma & Grandpa Warren at our house for Easter. Daddy & Papa finished our basement, laying carpeting & all. We've visited Lincoln Park Zoo & the Shedd Aquarium, which kept the girls completely mesmorized! And the girls helped me host a play date at our house for our MOPS friends. We had a quick trip to MI for the our neice's birthday party and a visit with our friends the Danz's.

Double the fun, We're turning ONE!

Happy Birthday Linnea & Signe!

As Dan & I remember this past year, we are in awe of the blessing God has given us in our daughters. Each day is more precious and somehow the girls come up with something new ALL the time!

Today, taking our parental responsibilities to the max, we took the girls in for the 12month Dr.s appointment. OOPS! Maybe not the best Birthday present. Linnea weighed in at 21lbs 8oz and Signe weighed in at 20lbs 8oz. While lighter, Signe is taller. She's in the 95th percentile for height at 30 7/8 inches and Linnea is in the 75-90th percentile at 30 1/4 inches. However we are celebrating their 1st Birthday this coming weekend, so we don't feel to bad about taking them into the doctors. And since it is their birthday, the nurse gave them each a book! To make up for it the girls had some fun at home with just mom & dad. Had their current favorite food mac'n cheese with hotdog & broccoli... followed up by their first taste of sweetness... a CUPCAKE! Yummy!! They both LOVED the cake and couldnt get past the texture of the frosting!

We are new to blogging so be patient if it takes a while to get up some pics. The picture at the top of the blog though is from today, while they were watching Daddy leave for work!

Linnea has just cut her 6th tooth, and Signe is stalled at 4 teeth right now! We are enjoying their "talking" which is like a running stream of babble. Though I'm convinced that they understand each other. And they can WALK! Its been a work in progress for about 2 weeks now. But Signe is REALLY good and can cross the room, while Linnea is tagging behind a bit but gets more confident each day!

Signe's got the bright pink bib, and Linnea's got the light pink!
